I made a missing cat post at 4 am about you on Craigslist, just so you know.
Will my disabled daughter have a place in this genetic wonderland? (via disabilityhistory)
Now we enter the age of genetics, which offers such hope for advancing healthcare but has also sparked a new form of eugenics, with scientists talking of eradicating disabilities at birth from the human condition.
…Those preaching this new eugenics conflate health and disability, harm and difference. They dismiss how diversity enriches the world, reject complex issues of choice, ignore implications of inferiority. They sweep aside Stephen Hawking writing about how motor neurone disease focused his work, or studies showing people with Down’s syndrome to be far happier with their lives and looks than the average person.
One of the things that is really notable about Moscow and yet not many people outside Russia know about, is how gorgeous the Moscow metro is.
These photos? That’s what the metro stations look like.
They’re called the “People’s palaces of Moscow” or else “Underground palaces,” and they were built during the Soviet era on the Communist idea that art and beauty should belong to the people rather than only being available in the houses of nobles.
These photos show just some of the metro’s attractions. There are many more mosaics, statues, etc, placed throughout.
And the metro is always this clean.
In addition to being beautiful, it is incredibly functional. It gets you pretty much everywhere in Moscow, and the trains run at intervals of every three minutes or less. At peak times, they run every 90 seconds. You never have to worry about missing a train, because the next one will come almost immediately.
Not always of course. In the late evening or early morning hours, you may have to wait as long as five whole minutes for a train. They’re also super easy to navigate.
We Russians are pretty proud of our metro system.
And 24 HOURS later…. You jerk
I love you so much
Now I’m gonna cry because my cat hasn’t come home from going out in the morning. I shouldn’t have let him out before I went to work. Peetu, where are yoooooooooooooouuuuuuuuuuuuu!?!?!!?
I’m tired of needing a nap after work.
I’m tired of being in a lot of pain all the time because I’m doing more than I should.
I’m tired of having no relief or way to restore.
I’m tired of putting my health towards the bottom of my obligation list.
I’m tired of having no one who I feel has my back or won’t end up letting me down, putting me aside or drifting away.
I just want to finish this quarter, finish moving and get my month break between quarters so I can sort all this out, stay away from everyone, find new people and finally look into other options for my pain management.
